Dan is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, Class of 1973, and received his Juris Doctorate from the University of New Hampshire School of Law (Franklin Pierce) in 1977. Over his 38 years of practice, he has engaged in most areas of law, including criminal and civil litigation.
Dan's current practice areas at Jabar LaLiberty & Dubord, LLC are largely limited to real estate transactions, both residential and commercial, business representation and formation of corporations, limited liability companies and nonprofits, affordable wills and estate planning, and the probate of estates.
Dan serves as corporate clerk to several hundred local businesses and together with his real estate title administrator, Barbara Vashon, who has worked with Dan for over 38 years, and his legal assistant, Tonia Stevens, he is known for providing prompt and accurate legal services. Dan is an attorney who will return your phone calls and has been recognized by Market Surveys of America from 2009 through 2015 as the Greater Waterville Area’s Best Attorney.
Dan has been involved in numerous local organizations including The American Cancer Society, where he served as Kennebec County chair and state chairman of Legacies and Planned Giving, a trustee for four full terms at Unity College, a continuing Director at the Alfond Youth Center, former member of the Waterville Area United Way, Waterville Safety Council, Waterville Charter Commission and served 21 years as a firefighter for the Waterville Fire Department, Engine #2, 15 of those years served as captain.
Dan is a corporator with Kennebec Savings Bank and a member of the Waterville, Kennebec, Maine and American Bar Associations. Dan has undertaken the responsibility of initiating new members to the Waterville Bar Association each year as “Bar Master.”
Dan is an accomplished self-taught pianist and has enjoyed numerous hobbies over the years. When not working Dan enjoys flying radio-controlled planes and helicopters, hiking, geocaching, boating, golfing, fishing, hunting, landscaping and telling stories.
Dan was born in Waterville and now lives in China, Maine, with his wife Dianne and their three Labrador retrievers.
